MoonCats has no billing system yet. Not a trial, not a free tier — there is no code in the product that could charge anyone. Here is what that means now, and what we expect to change.

Everything, for every household

Every household has the whole product, at no cost, however many cats, dogs or caretakers are in it. That includes:

One household shared by as many caretakers as you invite
Every pet in the household, with no per-pet charge
Medication schedules, the shared dose log, and the per-dose lockout
Reminders on the Android app, with snooze from the lock screen
Care tasks, journal entries, weight tracking and photos
Vet records, appointments and the 90-day vet report
Spending logged per pet and per category
Read-only sitter links, with a calendar feed
The full household JSON export, from the web app

Later

A household plan, eventually

We expect to introduce a paid plan for households with two or more cats. Households with a single cat will stay free.

There is no price and no date, because neither has been decided. There is no billing code in the product at all. When that changes, the details — what it costs, what it includes, and when it starts — will be published on this page before anything changes for anyone already using MoonCats.

The export stays free.

The household JSON export and the vet report are free today and stay free on every plan. Taking back the ability to leave with your own records is not something we are willing to do.

Priced per household, never per pet or per caretaker.

A household with four people and three cats would pay one household price. Not four. Not three.

Announced here first.

Any change to what costs money appears on this page before it appears in the product. Nothing gets sprung on you inside the app.

MoonCats runs in any web browser and as an Android app. Both are free right now, and both would be covered by one household plan if one ever exists.

Pricing questions

Is there a catch to it being free?
No. There is no billing system in MoonCats — no card form, no trial clock, no feature that quietly switches off. It is free because nothing exists yet to charge with.
Will I lose anything I have set up when pricing arrives?
No. Nothing you create today is a trial artefact. If a paid plan arrives, the household JSON export and the vet report stay free regardless, so you can always leave with everything you logged.
Why "two or more cats" rather than a feature split?
Because a household with several cats is the case MoonCats is built for, and splitting on features would mean deciding which parts of your cat's record you are allowed to keep. Splitting on household size does not. This is the current intention, not a shipped rule.
Will I be charged per pet or per person?
No. Any plan would be priced per household. Adding a second cat, a dog, or a third caretaker would not multiply anything.
What currency will it be in?
We do not know yet, and we are not going to guess on this page. It will be stated here before anything is charged.
